I bought this set, 1 month ago. This was moneywise, a great deal- the lens is worth almost $400.00 on its own, new. I have used it on 6 photoshots since, and have fallen in love with this camera. I would recommend this to everyone. Everything is great. Buy this set.
I purchased the camera kit in December 2008, so I've had it for a little over a year.All electronics are in great condition - I love the clean shots I can get with the XS, and it's so handy to have the USB card reader rather than having to bring a cord with me everywhere.The only thing that wasn't up to the quality I expected was the camera bag. However, the other front clip broke a few weeks ago, right around the one year mark. It has two front clips and two side clips; one front clip broke within a couple weeks of purchase. Everything else was fine so I didn't see a need to return the kit. I now need to purchase a new bag, since the side clips aren't able to support the weight of the camera by themselves. Saw this camera on sale at a national chains store and considered buying it there but always check Amazon first and found this camera package for the same price. Actually, got this whole package plus S&H for a bit less. It arrived quickly. Definately a must have for a Christmas present.

I have been using it for snapshots of family and friends, and I've been using it for serious photographs taken at various local landmarks. The Canon Rebel is almost perfect. It's easy to use, and it's versatile. The Rebel works well in both situations. Even a beginner can learn to use this camera, and they can be taking great pictures right out of the box.
